I traveled with my parents on my second trip to Bangkok–they wanted a few days in Thailand since it was a short flight from our stay in Kuala Lumpur.
Our hotel was not in the most desirable location, as there was very little nearby. Any destination of interest was a taxi ride away.
On one of my lengthy walks around the neighborhood while my parents visited sites I had already been to, I came across a fruit market just a few blocks from the hotel. This market seemed to specialize in pineapples, which was unfortunate because we had no knives in the hotel room.
I bet those markets were incredible. What an adventure.
